Last week was one of the toughest week I ever had in my travel career as I lost a big chunk of money from making 1 simple mistake. I won't disclose the exact amount but I had to do the right thing by my client so I took full responsibility for it.
I forgot to cancel a hotel and since it was within non-refundable period, client's card got charged so I had to pay it back out of my own pocket which sucks ball. I tried to talk to the hotel but they said they couldn't do anything to help out so the bill fell on me which I accepted as I made a mistake.
Normally I'm very attention to detail and after crying for 2 days, it all came to being tired, exhausted and burnt out from working nearly 7 days a week til late night just so I can get back to all my clients so they wouldn't have to wait. BIG MISTAKE.
My brain and body couldn't handle it anymore so I made a simple mistake that costed me a lot of money.
All I can say is that I have learnt an expensive lesson and that I need to take care of ME first in order to do my job effectively. Don't make the same boo boo like me. If things get too overwhelming, please make sure to take a breather and take care of yourself first no matter what.
Some people might think " Why is he admitting his fault?" or " Is he shitty at being a Travel Manager?"... Well to be honest, this is a way for me to say:
✅ I am a human being.
✅ I'm f***ing amazing at what I do and I will own it to make sure my clients are taken care of.
When you book your trip with me, no matter what I'll always do the right thing by you. I will do my best to be available for you even after hours but I also have my limit. No one in this world can work 24/7.
Once again, thank you for reading my blog 🙏🙏🙏
