I used to run my own travel business by myself and it was good until last year when I was working 12-14 hours a day including weekends to make up the lost from the pandemic. Consequently, I burnt out, hated my job and lost a lot of money from one simple thing by not cancelling a hotel for a client.
I had 2 options.
Option 1 - I kept doing the same thing and hope something may change.
Option 2 -I had to pivot and do something about it.
Fast forward a year later I now have amazing 3 Mini Me to help with the business and I'm in such a good space right now 😊
We normally start our day at 9am with a video call to check in with each other, talk about our head space and distribute the tasks accordingly. We often talk about our clients' trips how we can help them plan, make it more fabulous and how the clients came about e.g. how did they hear about our travel service, who referred them and what are they like etc. The end goal is to make the team understand our clients more on a personal level and not just treat them like a number.
Through out the day we communicate via Whatsapp so if the gang have any questions then I can help them straight away because as much as they have worked in the travel industry for more than 5 years, they are still very new to how I like to help our clients out e.g. tailor made trip, corporate and how I fix up any dramas e.g. flight delay and cancellation.
In another words, I'm a CONTROL FREAK so I'm teaching them how to be like ME hahaha 🤣😏
At 1.30pm we will then have a quick training on different topics such as airfares, destinations, social media and so on then we go on a lunch break.
At 5.30pm we have our end of the day catch up to go through what tasks we have completed, what's pending, what they one cool thing they have learnt and how their head spaces are at. We all log off at 6pm and I always encourage them not to work after hours. I want all of us to have work life balance but occasionally when we have urgent tasks then I will always ask if any of them can stay back. They have the choice to say no and I never guilt trip them cus you know, I'm a good boss 😜
I love the fact that I can be super honest with them and that I can also be vulnerable. When there are days where I feel not so great both physically or mentally, I tell them up straight and that they know they have to take care of things. We work as a team so if one of us is down then everyone else will put in the extra effort to make sure all of our clients are taken care of. All I want for our working culture is to be open, honest and have lots of FUN with what we do. So when you are our clients and you book your trips with us, you have a team of 4 helping you out + we are super FUN 🙃🙃🙃🙃
